Dale Nelson is the head baseball coach at Laurens District 55 High School. Coach Nelson has 15 years experience coaching high school baseball. Coach Nelson has been the head coach at Laurens Dist. 55 High for the last four years and has led the Raiders to three consecutive Region 1 - AAAA championships while compiling an overall record of 75-38. Coach Nelson was also the head coach of the South Carolina District 6 Big League State Champions in 2009. Coach Nelson played college baseball at USC-Spartanburg and has instructed at several college baseball camps around the state including Clemson University.
Matt Marrone is originally from Edison, NJ.He played Little League baseball, AAU baseball, and high school baseball growing up.As a 13-year-old, he won the State Championship and represented NJ in the regional finals at Chickasaw, OK.Since then, Matt has played professional baseball in Italy in the top-level A-1 for 2006 Modena "Brewers" and 2007 Avigliana "Giants" and MLB partnership affiliate teams.He was nominated rookie pitcher of the year in 2006 All-Star balloting.Matt received his Bachelor of Arts degree from North Greenville University in 2005, where he received a 4-year scholarship as starting pitcher for the "Crusaders" NCAA Division 2 program.
Corey Fountain has been the assistant head coach at Laurens District 55 High School for the last four years. During his time at Laurens he has helped lead the Raiders to three consecutive Region 1 -AAAA championships. Coach Fountain was a two sport athlete at North Greenville College, playing both baseball and football. Coach Fountain was an all-state baseball player at Lamar High School and currently is in charge of the pitchers and outfielders at Laurens District 55 High School. Coach Fountain also has experience working college baseball camps including the Clemson University Baseball Camp.
Harold George brings over 24 years experience in fastpitch softball to The Batters Box. Mr. George helped start the Carolina Sandlappers fastpitch softball program and also was an assistant coach at Mauldin high school. Mr. George was also one of the first fastpitch organizers in the state of South Carolina. Mr. George is an excellent teacher of the fundamental skills needed to compete at the high school level and above. Mr. George offers both private and group lessons.
